2025 Pinellas County Point in Time Count

**What is the Point in Time Count?**

The Point in Time Count and Survey (PIT) is a yearly, nationwide event with a noble mission: to identify and better serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Pinellas County. The information collected by PIT volunteers plays a pivotal role in informing policy makers at the local, state, and national levels. This data is sent to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), giving them a real-time snapshot of Pinellas residents experiencing both sheltered and unsheltered homelessness. This invaluable information helps:

Training Information: Registered volunteers will receive training dates via email. Please register for a training session between January 13th and 22nd. Click here to access training materials (password provided following training)

Each year, each Continuum of Care (CoC) is required to report the number of homeless persons within its community to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The count takes place in the last week of January and includes both sheltered and unsheltered persons. Sheltered persons are those residing in Emergency Shelters (ES), Transitional Housing (TH) or Safe Havens (SH). Unsheltered persons (UN) are those residing in places not meant for human habitation. The two primary sources for these data each year are the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and a street survey of homeless persons (the Point in Time Count and Survey, or PIT).
